2017 Silvertone 1478 Reissue of the 1963 Model
Silvertone, just like Danelectro, was a department store brand made to bring inexpensive guitars to working folks in the 50s and 60s. Turns out those working folks had the children who defined the sounded of Rock n Roll, and many of them did it on Silvertones. These guitars have been reissued lately, and the companies have done a great job with it. They stay true to the original design, achieve what was great about the original sound, but are way better made all the way around. They play better. It's like getting a 60s classic car but after it's been fit with modern technology and safety features. The new 1478's have the vintage vibe, but play like a new guitar. Plus, they have a great tone!
When we first got this guitar, it was so new that we had to spend 20 minutes getting the rest of a sticker off the pickguard, which there may have been some of it left in little pieces. As far as we can tell, it was barely played from personally playing it.
