1970s Gibson RB-250 Mastertone 5-string Banjo with Hard Case

Good Condition.

This Gibson RB-250 Mastertone 5-string banjo was built during the early-1970s at Gibson’s Kalamazoo, Michigan factory. It represents the Norlin-era evolution of Gibson’s flagship production bluegrass banjo. The RB-250 retained the classic Mastertone design while introducing the distinctive “Ribbons & Bows” fingerboard inlays, a fiddle-shaped peghead with pearl inlay, and a double tube-and-plate flange. The RB-250 features a laminated mahogany neck, mahogany resonator, an 11-ply maple rim, and a bell brass Mastertone tone ring.

Condition:

The hardware has developed an even vintage patina. The resonator shows light scratches and finish wear. The binding exhibits several small age-related shrinkage gaps at the joints, which are common on vintage Gibson instruments of this era. Includes Gibson hardcase in fair condition.
