1950s-1960s Musser Century Vibe Model 75 Vibraphone
Good Condition.
This Musser Century Vibe Model 75 vibraphone is a vintage American-made instrument produced during Musser’s well-regarded mid-century Chicago era, dating approximately to the 1950s–1960s. During this period, instruments of this type were also commonly marketed under the term “vibraharp,” a name frequently used in catalogs and professional percussion settings of the era.
The vibraphone features aluminum bars, resonator tubes, and the original motor-driven resonator system that creates the instrument’s characteristic pulsating effect.
It comes with the original electric Bodine motor assembly:
- Motor: Bodine Electric Company Speed Reducer Motor (Chicago)
- Type: NSP-11R
- Motor Serial: 1750204
- Speed: 200 RPM
The motor is functional and operates through the original single on/off switch mounted at the top end of the instrument. This model uses a fixed motor speed from the factory rather than a variable-speed control system as with modern vibraphones.
The instrument is fully playable and in great shape for its age. It has a few small dents on some of the resonator tubes along with general cosmetic wear and worn bars as expected from a well-played instrument. The damper pedal assembly is fully functional, and the rolling frame remains sturdy and usable for performance or studio applications.
