1961 Panoramic Made in Italy
THE GUITARCHIVE - Made by Crucianelli in the Castelfidardo region of Italy, this guitar is a great player - very low action, no buzzing, great neck, lots of fret life, and GREAT sound. The cracks that define the guitar’s look, some in the varnish and some in the wood, have all been addressed and are stable. There is one place where some of the finish and some wood was chipped off (see pics, by the sound hole). The guitar is stable, and the cracks are now apart of the guitar, part of its character. The guitar is in outstanding playing condition. Light, durable, very low action, no buzzing, newly set up, comfortable neck, good frets -- just an all around great player. And the sound is just great... It's just something that can't be reproduced with reissues. I see why these are so sought after. (We sold the last one we had to Ben Folds, so that's pretty cool!)
We cleaned all of the electronics vigorously including rotary switch. We filed some stripped out wood where the holes were for the screws. We installed a new switchcraft jack. We fixed some grounding issues to the bridge, stabilized some of the finished cracking with clear grain filler, fixed some fret issues (the high frets were already filed down previously, the will need to be replaced some time in the future). We gave the guitar a professional setup and strung it with new 10-46 gauge strings. It plays like a dream and sounds even better.
