El Chasqui Charango
THE GUITARCHIVE - The charango is a ten-string instrument that originated in the Andean Region of South America, in the mountains that dominate the north-western part of the continent and cover parts of (or most of) Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Chile, and Argentina. The charango is folk instrument about the size of a ukulele. The instrument was a native development in post-colonial times, sort of an original take on the stringed instruments introduced by the Spanish during colonization. Today, the instrument is widespread throughout the Andean region and beyond. They are often made as both playable instruments and as works of art with cultural significance.
This is a professional level charango in excellent condition. It was handmade in Bolivia by El Chasqui from Platonia wood (Naranjillo), and Nacre on the front. This El Chasqui Charango plays great, sounds great, and is a true work of art.
