BOSS Digital Delay DD-3

This is a vintage Boss DD-3 Digital Delay pedal, featuring the highly sought-after first version made in Japan, equipped with the legendary “long chip.” Essentially the same as the DD-2, this version of the DD-3 has earned a reputation for its warmer, more organic tone compared to later models. When Boss discontinued the long-chip, the sound of the DD-3 changed, and many players feel it never quite sounded as good.

The long-chip DD-3 offers three delay ranges, delivering anything from short slapback echoes to an expansive 800ms delay time. Additionally, it includes a direct output jack, making it ideal for use in a wet/dry rig setup.

Control Knobs:

  • E LEVEL: Adjusts the volume of the repeats, from silent to unity gain with the dry signal.
  • F BACK: Controls the number of repeats, ranging from a single echo to infinite repeats.
  • D TIME: Alters the delay length, ranging from 12.5ms to 800ms, depending on the selected mode.
  • MODE: Selects the range for the D TIME knob:
    • S 50ms: 12.5-50 milliseconds
    • M 200ms: 50-200 milliseconds
    • L 800ms: 200-800 milliseconds
    • HOLD: Switches the footswitch to a momentary mode, endlessly repeating one delay cycle.

This DD-3 is in great working condition, with clean and quiet pots, jacks, and switches. Power it with a 9-volt battery, Boss PSA adapter, or a standard 9-volt pedalboard power supply, making it a versatile addition to any setup.
