The Process

For Musical Instrument Consignment

12-Step Consignment Process

We’ll handle them all for you!

1. Possession

The consignment process begins when you sign our Consignment Agreement, and we take possession of your musical instruments and musical instrument accessories. You can bring us the items on any Saturday from 11am-6pm at our Rock Hill location. Or, you can set an appointment at the same location to drop off the items during the week. Or, you can arrange a pickup of your items. Or, you can ship us your items (please contact us first!). We maintain ample insurance for the items we keep in our possession.

2. Appraisal

We conduct an appraisal of your items to determine the current market value. For this appraisal, we assess the condition of the item and research the item’s current market value on Reverb, Ebay, and on the general web (often from retailers like Guitar Center, Chicago Music Exchange, and others).

3. Testing & Cleaning

We test the items that need to be tested, and we clean each item for display and to be photographed and listed online.

4. Repair

We identify any needed repair and report that back to the seller with a suggested course of action and any costs involved. When approved, we handle the needed repairs from there.

5. In-Store Display

We display each item for sale in our retail store in Rock Hill, SC.

6. Photography

We photograph each item that we list for sale online. Our intention is to simply show the buyer the clearest representation of the item and its actual condition. For some higher-value items, we also provide a professional photo shoot for marketing material.

7. Listings

We sell items online in multiple sales channels. We list items in our online music store. We also list items in our Ebay store that has 100% positive feedback and in our Reverb store with over 400 positive reviews. Some items we don’t list online but have for sale only in our music store in Rock Hill, SC. These items may include stands, covers, cables, straps, strings, capos, and other small items.

8. Customer Service

We communicate with potential buyers – responding to emails, calls, and texts about the items we list online, as well as helping people in our retail store.

9. Marketing

We market individual items, groups of items, our store, our online sales channels, and our brand to a national buying audience in order to speed the process of selling your items.

10. Shipping

We ship nationwide (lower 48). This includes most items that we sell, not only guitars and smaller items, but drums and amplifiers as well. Some items we list online but do not ship. These items are labeled as Local Pickup Only. These are usually items where the cost to ship exceeds the value of the item.

11. Returns

We handle all returns for the items we sell. Our return policy is specific to each of our sales channels. For example, Reverb has a 7-day default return policy that begins when the buyer receives the item. Whereas Ebay’s return policy is similar but is twice as long (14 days). We navigate each channel according to its policies and norms.

12. Payout

After your item sells and once the refund period has expired, then it is queued for payout. We payout to our sellers every week. We payout by Venmo, Paypal, or Check. We report on what sold and the fees that were applied.

We Seek

Used guitars, basses, amps, pedals, drums, synths, keys, mandolins, banjos, folk, orchestral, pro audio, stands, straps, cables, capos, tuners, and all sorts of musical instrument accessories.

Let us know what you would like to sell, and we can help you make it happen from there. Thanks!
