1964 Fender Mustang
This guitar is one of the first Fender Mustangs ever made, it’s completely original, and it’s in excellent playing condition – super-low action, no buzzing, great frets, a great neck, and all the mojo that one can imagine in the ’64 Fender pickups.
Mustangs were first produced in August of 1964, and this one is date-stamped August 8, 1964. So, it was among the first batches to be made. The pots are dated Sept 64, which was common for Fender to create a group of necks and bodies, then create a group of pots and pickups, and then assemble them as a final process. Fender had 600 employees at that point with most of them on the floor making guitars. Leo Fender sold the business to CBS Corporation that January in ’65.
