1915 Gibson L-1
THE GUITARCHIVE – Of the three known pictures of Blues legend Robert Johnson, one of them shows him with a Gibson L-1. These guitars, though, while more than are iconic to the Blues, they were more frequently used as Jazz instruments — the arched top, back, and sound hole were designed to project mid-range sound to be heard among the jazz band. This guitar is in excellent playing condition. It is all original, but missing the pick guard and associated hardware. It is in beautiful cosmetic condition though a closer look will show that it has a few professionally repaired cracks (work well done). These guitars are treasures of history, and they have a unique sound that we just love.
You can demo instruments like this at The Local Pickup guitar showroom in Rock Hill, SC (Charlotte, NC).
